Paws Abroad asks you for your e-mail address and other personal information when you register with our service. This information is saved on the servers of and parent host within the USA, whereas only personal information will be saved and processed which you submitted during the registration process.

This information, email address and name, may be passed on to members of Paws Abroad in order to get into contact over our website or email.

The information we collect

We may collect your name,  address, email address, phone number, DEROS, dates of service requested, information about your pet, and information regarding your experience with animals and what areas you would like to volunteer for within the Paws Abroad Organization.

We automatically log information about you and your computer. For example, when visiting our website, we may log your computer operating system type, browser type, browser language, the website you visited before browsing to ours, pages you viewed, how long you spent on a page, access times, Internet protocol (IP) address and information about your use of and actions on our website. This is done through Google Analytics and we use this information to improve the website performance and reach of the website.

We may log information using "cookies." Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website. Cookies help us make your experience on our website better. We use cookies to see which parts of our website people use and like and to count visits to our Service.

How we use your information

We use your personal information as follows:

  • to operate, maintain, and improve our sites, products, and services.
  • to respond to comments and questions regarding our service.
  • to send information including confirmations, newsletters, and general emails regarding fostering pets in need.
  • to ensure that the pets in need qualify for our service
  • to find a suitable foster match for each pet
  • to communicate with volunteers and about up coming event opportunities.

The information you give us is only viewed by Paws Abroad Board members.

We never sell your personal information

We will not give any of your personal information to any third party, unless you have previously expressed your consent, or it is required by law or permitted by law.  Your personal information is yours, and we deeply respect that! We will never sell your data to anyone, ever, period. We know protecting the sensitive information of our military members and their families is important and we do everything in our power to make sure this information is kept secure.

Information choices and changes

Most emails we send you will be about what you signed up for either to be a foster, a volunteer, or Pet parent in need of services. Sometimes, we may send you non-essential emails such as our newsletters, but these emails will have a clear way to "opt-out." If you opt out, you will no longer receive non-essential emails from us.

You can typically remove and reject cookies from our Service with your browser settings. Many browsers are set to accept cookies until you change your settings.

Deletion of data

If at any time you would like us to completely remove your personal information please email with your request. Otherwise information will be routinely deleted when members pass the DEROS listed in their application.

We may keep historical data including when a pet was fostered and by whom, however when a pet has successfully been fostered, and the military member is no longer in the local area we will routinely delete their information as well.
